As you might have learned this week through the ever-amazing grapevine, I was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Here’s a Wikipedia link.
Hodgkins has a great survival rate (80%). I’m young (no snickering!), healthy, and a good candidate for an aggressive treatment regimen.
I will require six months of chemotherapy, and we’re not wasting any time. Friday I had a port installed in my chest, and chemo begins Tuesday morning. Chemo will be administered every other Tuesday and will hopefully wrap up mid-May.
We absolutely love our oncologist and the caregivers at our treatment center. We believe God orchestrated these relationships, and we can’t wait to see how they develop!
The Access staff and elders have responded wonderfully and are ready to rise up and fill any gaps in my ability to perform at 100% in the coming months. My oncologist believes that I’ll still have a very active work life.
We so appreciate all of the offers to provide meals and other practical help.… Read the restPosted November 5, 2012
We’re excited to announce that UpStreet will send shoeboxes filled with gifts and needed items around the world to needy children through Operation Christmas Child. This is a great opportunity for you and your family to practice November’s “Big Idea” of Service—seeing a need and doing something about it.
We’ll begin collecting items to fill our boxes from now until November 11, and we’ll pack the boxes during small-group time November 18. Below is a list of items by grade that we’re collecting. To help cover the cost of shipping, we are asking that each child bring $2 along with their item(s).
So how’s that 401k looking these days?
How ’bout your personal positivity index?
Thinking about firing off an email or two to your congressional representative? Already did? Didn’t hear back?
If you are like most Americans, you’re wondering what in the heck is going on in Washington. And you’re probably wondering what you’re supposed to do while you wait for somebody to fix things.
Well, we’ve got an idea.
What if we don’t wait around for somebody else to fix things? What if we go ahead and start fixing it ourselves?
Some of us are naïve enough to think that if we get that “We the People” thing cranked up, we just might be able to get this country on the road to recovery.
Sound like a good idea?
Then join us Sunday at Access Church as we kick off this six-part series, Recovery Road, with Andy Stanley. Watch the video on the right for a quick preview.… Read the restPosted September 24, 2012
These are the echoes of a nation figuring out freedom. From the beginning, the need for and the inalienable right to freedom have shaped our nation’s path.
Freedom can have a high price and a darker side, but maybe the balance is in God’s Word.

Guardrails: a system designed to keep vehicles from straying into dangerous or off-limit areas. They’re everywhere, but they don’t really get much attention until somebody hits one. And then, more often than not, they’re a lifesaver.
Ever wonder what it would be like to have guardrails in other areas of your life? Your friendships? Your finances? Your marriage?
Maybe your greatest regret could have been avoided if you had established guardrails.
In this six-part series, Andy Stanley challenges us to stop flirting with disaster and establish some personal guardrails.
Join us this Sunday, April 29, for the kickoff of “Guardrails.” We’ll see you at Access Church!… Read the restPosted April 23, 2012
But this war is different. It’s not a war between nations, countries, or political parties. No, this war is personal. The battlefield is located inside of you. It’s a struggle that’s been taking place for centuries that, sadly, many of us lose.

The resurrection of Jesus is the most important event in human history, and yet it may surprise you that it has nothing to do with religion.
The message of Jesus was fueled by a radical new ethic of love. This radical love that Jesus offers is available to us and through us. But, do we truly know it and live it?
April 1 and 8, join us for an Easter series, “Radical Love,” with Andy Stanley. We’ll see you there!… Read the restPosted March 26, 2012
Did you ever run away from home? Maybe you got to the end of the block before turning around and going back. It all seems silly in retrospect, but at the time you had plans. You’d show ‘em what was what.
But your plans always fell apart, didn’t they? You were so focused on what you were running from, not what you were running to, that you found yourself faced with the question, “Now what?” You had to raise the white flag and give up.
In this three-part series, Andy Stanley will walk us through the story of one of the world’s most famous runners—Jonah. From trying to outrun God to wrestling with grace and discipline, we’ll explore the lessons we can all learn when it comes to surrendering.

Success at Access Church is defined by how many of us move from large environments into Community Groups. Community Groups are small groups of six married couples or eight individuals of the same gender.
The Community Group is the best place for sustained life change to occur. In Community Groups, we study God’s Word together and discuss the issues and challenges of life.
We pray together, we care for one another, and we’re missed if we don’t show up.
GroupLink is the way we help people get into Community Groups. It’s coming up Sunday, January 29, at 4:30pm, at Access Church (4911 Losco Rd.).
Can’t make it to GroupLink? The success of GroupLink depends on everyone’s participation. The best groups start strong when everyone is present at GroupLink.
We are so grateful to God for all who prayed, gave, served, and invited. Our launch in our new building was amazing!
If you weren’t there, be sure to check it out this Sunday at 4911 Losco Rd. Two opportunities to join us: 9:30 and 11:00am. We’ll see you there!
Shake any family tree, and you never know what kind of people might fall out. Let’s face it—we all have an uncle or a cousin we whisper about behind closed doors. We all have a relative or two we try to avoid at family gatherings. No surprise there.
But here’s something you may not know. Jesus had a few shady characters in his family as well. Actually, he had some relatives that make your most wayward cousin look like a saint.
In An Unexpected Christmas, Andy Stanley introduces us to a few of these colorful characters and the role they play in the Christmas story. Don’t miss this five part series kicking off November 27 at Access Church! We’ll see you there!… Read the restPosted November 21, 2011
